The Chinn family drove up Saturday morning to meet me near the cabin for their photos this year. I was elated! The aspens were just starting to change and the weather was perfect for Cam. We had fun driving around finding little spots and she loved playing with the grasses and low branches. Mom brought both pairs of rain boots for a little twin shot, and of course a little blue and orange to kick off the football season. #53…Matt, you were so close 😉
I heard about this young woman, Savannah, before she was even born…and evidently I knew her mom, Jessie, before I was born! Jessie and my mom were both pregnant at the same time and new to Colorado as their husbands were to be playing for the Denver Broncos in the fall of 1977. Long short, Jessie and I spent our early years together but after a few moves and life changes, we didn’t see one another until we were in our late twenties. That’s when destiny brought us back together and I heard Savannah was on her way!
I’ve been blessed to watch Savannah grow up (and get taller too) over the last twelve years and be a part of Jessie’s heart expanding even more as her daughter gets older. They met me in north Parker on a strip of the Cherry Creek Trail and we strolled around finding soft sun and yellow flowers. I enjoyed the mother-daughter moments through the lens and also taking Savannah’s hand down into the flower beds for some off-trail adventures. She did great and we managed to get a good number of giggles out of the almost-teenager.
I look forward to posting these two every year because the photos tell their own story of growth and change. There is a kindness between both of them that hasn’t changed much, perhaps just in depth. They ventured up to the cabin for a little change of scenery this go around. Mom and Dad hung out in Nederland for a few hours while we hiked to some of my favorite spots, including our little makeshift fort from a few years back. We even snapped a few senior pics for John – it’s officially graduating time!!
Ahmed had the perfect proposal all planned out with the help of his friends at Refuge Coffee Co. in Clarkston and a few of Marianna’s friends too that could keep a special secret. He had a videographer, live music, face time set up for her parents, a set with photos of the love birds and confetti poppers to boot. He has worked at Refuge for a few years and that is where he met Marianna. So what better place to kick off the start of their new season together…
