A friend in Atlanta emailed me about a potential referral for a senior portrait session – referrals are ALWAYS good, so I was anticipating a great connection. After the first 3 minutes of the call it occurred to me they weren’t local at all. They were in Iowa. Well, I’ve never been to Iowa and I love to travel – plus photos in Iowa could be really amazing and quite inspiring! I’m so glad I stayed opened minded and kept listening 🙂 Jayden wanted her photos taken in the Rocky’s and she was willing to travel for them. As happy as I am living in ATL, I can’t seem to stay away from Colorado too long – friends, family, work and otherwise. We planned our trip to cross paths and set the shoot near my family’s cabin a couple hours before sunset.
WOW. What an evening. We got a few shots down by the tracks, in a few different aspen groves, open meadows, at old horse barn and some little wildflower patches – we were everywhere!
The deeper we went into the canyon, her smile got bigger, her freedom to laugh grew and her dress seemed to have an extra wind as she would spin and twirl. The weather was beyond perfect and the sun started to set just as we found the perfect wildflower meadow to catch the last of the light. Mom and sister jumped in at the end for the final shots. Something about the fresh mountain air tends to bring the smiles out in everyone. Who wouldn’t want to jump in front of the lens and capture the blissful feeling?
