When I knocked on the front door, Charlie opened it with the biggest smile. He had his red chucks on and just needed help lacing them up. He had his sunglasses in hand and we were out the back door to find his bike. He kept asking for “one more time” so he could show me how fast he could go on his bike while smiling at the camera. He was set up for success out of the gate – if he listened, smiled and kept a good attitude throughout the session, he could choose some of his stuffed animals to be in the last picture. As you will see, he hit the mark, by a MILE! *I’ve passed on this tactic to many families since. So far, no tears!
